My Pledge to New Hempstead
Commitment to Open Governance
As Mayor, I will be one vote out of five on the Village Board. I cannot promise specific outcomes, but, and I will commit to following the following core principles:
- The Village website will be kept current, notices will be posted, draft minutes will be posted within 2 weeks, and adopted minutes within 2 weeks of adoption.
- If the Village records its meetings - and it should - recordings will be posted within 2 weeks of the meeting.
- The Village development applications page will be overhauled to ensure all files are properly dated, descriptions are understandable, and that documents are posted within days of receipt - not weeks, months or more.
- Agendas will include meaningful details before meetings.
- Items and resolutions will not be added to the agenda unless they are urgent.
- I will not advance rezoning or development applications that are improperly defined or unsupported by the Village Planning Board.
- I will oppose any attempt to move forward in ways that are unlawful, arbitrary, or capricious.
- I will complete the Comprehensive Plan with proper environmental review. And,
- I would propose rescinding the scoping document approval for the golf course to eliminate the pending lawsuit and focus the Village time and money on simply doing what it should have done in the first place, work with the developer, the Planning Board and the public to develop a concept plan that seems worthy of consideration before starting the detailed environmental analysis and coordination of review with involved agencies.
